CARE in Haiti after the Earthquake

The situation in Haiti following Tuesday's earthquake is devastating. The assistance that CARE is offering is access to clean water and waste disposal remain critical issues. We are rapidly responding and working to resolve logistical challenges. In order to reach the largest number of people quickly, CARE Haiti's health program coordinator, Dr. Franck Geneus, and his staff are training local volunteers in water purification through a simple method: small packets of powder are mixed with water. Each packet can purify 10 liters of water. >>

Voice of Hope Bulletin Volume 1
Welcome to 'Voice of Hope', a bulletin that reports activities undertaken by CARE to prevent and respondto sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) and promote human rights at the Dadaab refugee camps. CARE addresses sexual and gender based violence as a human rights concern affecting refugees. To this end, we work closelywith the refugee community and partners to ensure that refugees themselves play a critical role in prevention and response toGBV. In particular, we involve men in through block based discussions. Dialogue between the refugee community and police have also been held ('tango talks') to broaden the fight against GBV. | September 11, 2009
